Barry Lee Janssen, age 75, of Alexandria, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, January 5, 2019.
Barry was born June 22, 1943 to Phillip and Virginia (Norem) Janssen in Minneota.
Barry loved his time as principal in both Glenwood and Hancock districts, where his silly antics were enjoyed as an addition to the current curriculum.
He spent his retirement with family and friends doing the things he loved: hunting, fishing, and enjoying the lake home life.
It was a tradition each June, to make the long journey to Reed Lake in Northern Manitoba where Barry delighted in camping, good company and “Fishing Serious”.
In the fall he loved deer hunting at “The Shack” with the boys.
Barry is survived by his three children: Stacey Janssen, Stephanie (Paul) Hartman, and Scott (Kellie) Janssen. His five grandchildren: Christian, Josie, and Joren Hartman, Arianna and Maxwell Janssen made him so proud and he loved them with his whole heart. His three siblings: Mary Jane Berends, Connie Sternke, Mark Garrow and their loving families.
Barry is preceded in death by his parents, Grandmother Minnie Westdahl, significant other: Carol Wold and Grandson Bailey Janssen.
There will be a private celebration of his life held at his request.
